12-28-12 (Graham Lucas)

Here are ten more jams/sequences—unranked—that take the next ten slots in 2012’s Top 50. Below, I threw in a random reader’s poll. Take a few seconds to weigh in on some Phishy questions.

Tweezer” 8/26 II, Charlotte, NC

This jam could be ranked higher.

  1. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

    Fun. First one to vote.

AC Piper should be way higher. Was DC McGrupp in the top 50?

  2. DaNcInG fOoL Says:

    Fuck talkers.

  3. Henry Says:

Cool poll. Definitely don’t think 8/25 deserves some of the other company of most underwhelming show. Two great, overlooked jams.

    and I agree, fuck talkers

  4. HeadyBrosevelt Says:

interesting polls. phishheads are definitely nerdy. and yes, fuck talkers.

  5. MiA Says:

    40 votes and 4 comments.

    That’s a lot of lurkers…

  6. Tweezer Says:

Great post Miner, and cool poll. Now I have to go back and listen to some of the off-the-beaten-path but still really good jams of 2012.

I almost clicked 03-04 Phish. The surprise jams were so good. I can relisten to 2.0 over and over. But I remember being at the shows and the sets were short, the set breaks were long, the band looked fucked. But then they would throw down an unbelievable SaSS for us.

Not to beat a dead horse, but any date on releasing dates? It’s killin me!

  7. Tweezer Says:

One last thing–I think the Charlotte show was overrated and Atlanta was underrated. I was at them both, could have walked out of Charlotte halfway through first set.

  8. Yoink Says:

How is 1/1/11 not on the best Holiday Run question? That show crushes anything in 2009, 2010 and 2011….

  9. gavinsdad Says:

    Philly 10 Reba in 3.0

  10. gavinsdad Says:

@yoink – that nite would be my “pick” too. I missed the holy ghost nite tho…that was another money shot.

  11. Leo Weaver Says:

Charlotte overrated and Atlanta underrated??? I agree. Charlotte Tweezer was real nice, but there was a lot of first set where my second set should’ve been. ymmv and all.

I was thinking the same thing MiA…lots of votes.

    Happy Friday!

  12. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

I like the “short” poll. it’ll be fun to see where things end up. yes, there are lots of lurkers, but there’s nothing about this poll that limits you to one vote.

stuff those ballots for your favorite least favorite show!

  13. Guyute711 Says:

Sometimes when it’s dark and the dirt is damp
I pop up my head and I don’t know where the hell I am

  14. Foul_Domain Says:

Dicks run is leading over Fest X? Thats just craziness! Bring on the festi!!

  15. HeadyBrosevelt Says:

@yoink- i voted for other in regards to best holiday show-

  16. Snigglebeach Says:

I hate talkers for my personal show experience, but they don’t , as far as I know, affect the band in any way.

The damn glow sticks. Almost every show some bit wit throws them toward the stage. I’ve def heard one hit the cymbals, and I’ve def seen trey and or page look super pissed when hit by 1. For that reason I say down with idiots with glow sticks.

I can always move away or hush the talkers. But if someone throws a glow stick that changed treys fun factor I’m throwing punches.

  17. Shred Says:

Did someone from Jambands.com create the poll? Many spelling errors and date conflicts. 10-31-10 msg??.

  18. PigSong Says:

I voted for Sally>Light, assuming its meant to be reverse 😉

    Great fun. Thanks Mr M!

  19. Willowed Says:

How is the Birds>BOTT segue in 4th? Wake up people.

Sand>Nellie was cool, but not great.

  20. MiA Says:

To continue the side run through ’00 Jams …

Yamar at Roseland Ballroom. I put up the VH1 link because … well it’s the SBD. And they focus on some good dancers too. 30:55, I’m looking at you.

  21. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    @MiA
how was your night with my birthday brother, Immortal Technique?

  22. mmmhmm Says:

Nice post Miner. Thought Charlotte Tweezer would have made an earlier cut but rankings are almost futile past the first 10. Indeed, fuck talkers.

  23. ren Says:

I really like Yamar. I have an awesome Grandpa!

  24. MiA Says:

@t3 – I am embarrassed to say that my geriatric self got to the door, gave them my ticket, said “Immortal Technique!” and they let me in and smiled.

Had a few drinks and puffed a lot of precious in the back talking to some dudes. I was on the moon. Not a lot of people, but figured they would roll up later…

Needless to say the warm up bands were terrible. Totally not hip hop sounding.

Un-precious’d myself a little and then figured out after looking at a poster in the back that the show is 2/22, not 21.

I can be amazingly stupid at times.

  25. Type III Jamming Personality Disorder Says:

    LL-effing-A!!!

holy crap, MiA. definitely been there before. “what do you mean they are playing tomorrow night?!?”
