Piper” 12.29.03 II, Miami, FL

The standard against which all 2.0 “Pipers” should be measured. The short post-hiatus era were the true glory years for “Piper.”

Runaway Jim -> Times Loves a Hero” 12.31.02 III, NYC, NY

The improvisational centerpiece of their comeback show.

Wolfman’s Brother” 12.1.03 Albany, NY

A favorite of a couple friends, this one is in honor of Wade and Scotty B. Look out for the “butter” jam at the end.

***

Ghost -> Free” 12.29.03 II, Miami, FL

This pairing provided the meat of a non-stop, second set sequence.

Down with Disease” 12.30.13 II, Miami, FL

After a zany second set with both highs and lows, Phish stopped the antics on a dime and closed the show with a heart-wrenching “Disease.”

Frankie Says” 12.28.03 I, Miami, FL

This is the stuff Phish pulled off in first sets in the post-hiatus era. Out of “Frankie Says” no less.” This was in the very first set of the New Years Run.

Rock and Roll -> Weekapaug > Reprise” 12.2.03 II, Boston, MA

This unorthodox sequence opened the second set of the 20th anniversary show, ten years ago.

[audio:http://phishthoughts.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/2.01-Rock-and-Roll.mp3,http://phishthoughts.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/2.02-Weekapaug-Groove.mp3,http://phishthoughts.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/2.03-Tweezer-Reprise.mp3]

***

Suzy Greenberg” 12.28.03 II, Miami, FL

The seemingly innocuous pop song turned into one of Trey’s darkest guitar confessionals in history.

***

Stash” 12.31.03 II, Miami, FL

One of the finest post-hiatus jams, period

[audio:http://phishthoughts.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/01-Stash.mp3]

Bathtub Gin -> 2001” 12.30 II, Miami, FL

This set-closing “2001” foreshadowed P Funk’s second set sit in as Trey teases some classic Parliament licks.

::vows to never let that happen again::

  6. butter Says:

    jtran – youve got electrons

  7. ren Says:

Congrats to AW and family on the wonderful news!!!

@JG- The plan is now more along the lines of a werebat (werewolf?) I plan on eating the red pill before entering and leaving enough time to get situated before my transformation into the Werebat. I’ll probably go unoticed most of the show…but I image the secret will be out once on those escalators after the show

  8. butter Says:

    i have 3 for 12/29 together, PTBM 400’s

    hit me up

  9. vapebraham Says:

7.27.13 — After Midnight — $$$. yes, yes, yall. peaches and cream.

  10. little umbrellas Says:

agreed Vape, that moment was so fun live.

  11. bob dylan Says:

so stoked for AW and K.

think i’m starting to change a bit. only in the past year have i even considered kids a serious option. making me share in your guys’ glow.

bethel bitches! starting my day off with cities keeping this upbeat mood going.

  12. vegas wolfmans Says:

::sneaks 12/28/12 wolfmans into in-laws christmas playlist::

  13. bob dylan Says:

all my cousins were having kids as teenagers so it was always a drag. not to mention folks in indiana pop kids out when they are young, fresh out of school. i always had my blinders on toward it.

wasn’t until meeting my lady that i started thinking about grown up topics. my mom and i have a running joke that my brother (10 years younger) will have kids before i do. now, maybe not.

  14. vapebraham Says:

say something debut — $$$. a tune primed for jamming.

  15. butter Says:

ut oh, baby talk from Bobby D now

  16. bob dylan Says:

I’ve got a few steps to go. gotta put a ring on it and sheeit, but the tides are turning. its not the knee jerk reaction it used to be.

  17. Kaveh Says:

    Wilson -> Sand -> Shafty: 12.30.03: DO.

  18. little umbrellas Says:

…. wonder if i’ll get there…. seeing inklings of this…
… some good schools in the peninsula… guess you get a few years before you have to think about that part…

very Glad I got to meet and dance with Adubs and K at the Bill Graham. Family Dance Party, warm souls indeed. Night 1 set 1, 2013.
    what a set!
Chillin with MiA + Ms, AW + Ms, Kaya + Ms, Silly, Jtran…

  19. bob dylan Says:

thats the shitty part. we want to get a house so the school issue is a real one. even without kids on a timeline, its a consideration.

  20. bob dylan Says:

    Bethel cities, halley’s, jim

    do it.

  21. little umbrellas Says:

and I’ll never forget the image of AW’s body language as his shoulders slumped and he turned to look in disgust at the fabled ‘Reba Clapper’!
    Lol for life!!!

ahhh, the irony, of all the potential seating combinations, the fact that AW ended up right next to the Clapper is just hilarious.

The Woo’s were so thick, all these people came hot on the heels of the TahWeezer wanting to Woo… then right at the soft opening of the Reba, the Clapper begins, and the crowd catches on. Shared looks of fear and disgust between MiA, AW and LU…

  22. little umbrellas Says:

Bethel Citiesing it already over coffee and spliff. :))

  23. little umbrellas Says:

here ya Bobbie D. Not sure how your feelin it, but there is a lot of education opportunity in this area.

  24. ren Says:

I’m right there with ya’ BD. The conversation becomes ever more important and urgent as time passes. Me and the mrs want everything to align just right…but I guess I’m learning that may never actually happen. At some point its just “anchors away” We’ll never be perfect people, let alone perfect parents…just some intersting things to be considering when bringing another life into this world. Also feel like I’ve seen way too many people I know not give it what I would consider “good consideration” which makes me more considerate. There is a middle ground there somewhere and a compromise that will work jah providing.

  25. Stoney Case Says:

Bob D, practicing makes for tons of fun. So there is that.

Changing nickname from “2 beer Stoney” to “1 beer Stoney”, as last nights second glass of Guiness has me in the headache locker.

VW! Great Wolfmans. Think I’ll go out to MSG for the 28th then split for #CouchTour

’11 and ’12 practically one and done NYE runs. Pre-jamulation.
