7/26/98 Starplex Amphitheatre Reba not part of RLP. Going to have to spin & see if she’s worthy…SDB on phishtracks.

  7. Jerome Garcia Says:

MiA did you do the ’98 Texas Triumvirate of Htown 7/24 ATX 7/25 & Big D 7/26?

7/26/98 Reba is worthy of the RLP.

  8. Jerome Garcia Says:

Outside of Phestie Phish @ ACL ’10 those are the last of the TX shows correct? If so it’s been 16 yrs…we’re fracking due.

Going into full on Beatles kick for a bit here. Don’t know why, but I decided to do the Anthology releases first, which was a kick.

Some of those alternate takes are pretty otherworldly.

“And I Love Her” on Anthology 1 has some reverbed guitar arpeggios behind the verses that sound like some kind of electronic track. Could be on an After Dark release or something.

“Helter Skelter” on Anthology 3 is wayyyyy slower than the album version, and is heavy as fuck.

Listening to all the stripped down tracks and demos reminds me that they’re actually a band, not just a collection of immaculately arranged sounds. Changes the way I listen in a big way. Also very glad I kept the remasters in lossless. Super clean sound. So much depth and separation.

  10. vapebraham Says:

couldn’t get through the gordon band w/ page and fish 555. poor video qual and something is all wrong about the tone.

  11. MiA Says:

Also did the 4 night at MSG ’98.

Great epic run. I was worthless for a month at work after that. But that’s how you do 2 weeks off. Luckily Loring was (and always been) an all expense paid trip paid for by the company. I knew the people up in the pulp mill in Madawaska, ME well. And they didn’t judge me that I couldn’t really speak a sensible word.

    great points GC

the George Martin touches and polished final product is why the Beatles are a band I’ve never really dived hard into.

well that and Paul is a total cunt of course.

wish they would have recorded with more of a raw sound like the bands I dig to actually hear who they were. I can’t even find the musicians buried in their shiny glossy final products.

    vinyl Mono Revolver FTW

  13. garretcorncob Says:

Figured Revolver would be up your list, Luongo, as far as Beatles albums go.

I still love the albums to death, but it’s nice to focus on them playing the instruments every now and again.

  14. vapebraham Says:

Todd Terje — $$+. something very robotic about it. thanks, rl.

  15. vapebraham Says:

^^^ it’s album time. snap! this just got $$$ on me. w/ OG

  16. roberto luongo Says:

Terje is getting pimped hard lately vape. does a great disco, house, loungin deal. bunch of great cross genre stuff. production is insanely slick.

he did a BBC essential mix last year highlighting similar feels and sounds that was one of the best I’ve ever heard. must spin.

  17. roberto luongo Says:

some super geek stuff. difference in early Mono vinyl mixes of Revolver

    http://www.columbia.edu/~brennan/beatles/var-1966.html

could be total BS but record geek rumor was that Mono Revolver had the least George Martin without any Beatles input post production that would become heavier and heavier as they released albums.

the closest to a pure Beatles record

  18. jtran Says:

who’s got the beatles oranged? they must be the hardest band to find anything online for, less torrents, ever

  19. jtran Says:

let it be…naked is pretty stripped too IIRC. haven’t spun that in a bit though.

  20. jtran Says:

    nvm, on youtube now

    anth 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-VxHrjqlTI

    anth 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5nRslTbHRg

anth 3 is on there too.

‘My level of starburst, rainbow level effusion afterwards was the best experience (except maybe Indio ’09) that I had experienced.’

^ this just gave me a flashback. Remembering how good I felt after that second and third set on Halloween night. (we did have some of the best Sid that I’ve ever had).

Ear to ear grin, full tilt rainbow mIndbabies. What a place, time, setting. Hadnt a care in the world.
West Coast Halloween Festival. Man we got lucky. wonder if that’ll ever happen again…

  22. garretcorncob Says:

Man I was spun as fuck at Indio Halloween. First time, and some clean paper. Don’t think I’ve been that lit since, even when I was 10-12 deep at Furthur Outside lands. I kept wondering how they were so focused on the music when the stage kept growing and shrinking. Then walking back to the tent between sets 2 and 3 the huge fenced off polo field was rolling like waves on the ocean.

Bought it from a guy in a lizard costume.

Still convinced the free Phish Food chocolates those random guys were handing out inside the gate had something going on.

  23. little umbrellas Says:

Sitting in a cafe, reading the world section in the paper (yikes) and that song, ’cause I don’t want the world to see me, cause I dont think that they’d understand’ just came on.

Bllaaargh! This world is an often confused and stupid place. Not bitching, I count my blessings, just makes me think about how awesome this place is, and how great all of you are. Can’t believe so many people listen to such trash.

BB vs the Sheepole. Wormhole jams 4life. Thanks all. Yall are sime refreshing motha’s.

  25. garretcorncob Says:

It could have been, USW, but I seem to remember this particular lizard having spikes.

Ridges, really, I think. Not spikes. Whatever the hell you would call a row of triangles sticking up from along the lizard’s spine.
