Weekend Nuggets: The Gorge ’97
DOWNLOADS OF THE WEEKEND:
As the upcoming Gorge shows sold out yesterday, this weekend we will travel back in time to the summer of 1997 and Phish’s first visit to the venue. Pulling into central Washington at the beginning of August, Phish was midway through their summer of deep funk and this translated beautifully to the open air beauty of The Gorge. The first night was darker and dancy, wile the second was celebratory and triumphant. After this initial visit, Phish felt right at home at the best venue of the west coast.

Huge ‘Walls of the Cave’ at Red Rocks.
Is anyone looking for Dead tix in Greensboro? Maybe a trade?
Does anyone know where I can get that televised Phish gig from Germany? 2/17/97? I remember that some German television station taped it and it was the first time I had seen Phish playing, and I’d love to grab another copy.
Huge ‘Walls of the Cave’ at Red Rocks.
TRUE THAT!!!
used to be able to download 2-16-97 on bittorrent, no links are longer active….I’m sure someone at tradersden.com would send you a copy
Mugician, I got it from here:

You’ll have to sign up to do a search but it’s easy. Of course, the downside is that it’s BitTorrent, so for such a huge file it could easily take 2 days to download. Worth it, though, it’s a hot show on a tiny stage.
actually demonoid.com has an active link barely..you want 2-16-97 wastessel, germany (rockpalast)
i wasn’t wild about this show though…cool Crosseyed and Bowie IMO…I’ve always wanted 7-6-98 Prague, though
and for a quick fix youtube has most of this content
Yeah, but I also had my friends copy stolen from me, so I kinda owe it to him to get him another, and getting one myself.
I just remember however long ago it was, SEEING Phish for the first time on video, and having a ball watching Trey leave the room completely while he played. I rediscovered Phish that day, and I’ve been on an upward spiral ever since, but just that one magical night, seeing him TEAR it up and being completely removed from this dimension was special for me.
I haven’t really ever thought to ask, but are there other full concerts that were filmed like this? Good quality audio, and good filming, not just shaky-dizzying crowd stuff?
I’m assuming by the way Wizzle was talking about 7-6-98, that there are indeed similar quality videos other than IT and Coventry and what not…
By the way (again), what’s the general feeling about IT around here? I personally really like the whole damn thing. In fact I love it….
There is Woodbury Ski Resort—4-29-90…pro-shot by the venue with a couple of other bands, and was actually sold by the venue for a while…hard to find for download though…not the most raging show though as is the case with a lot of video bootlegs. I know what you mean though, I am always looking for Phish video on the internet, but get annoyed with the shaky/sketchy/amateur crap that is out there…There’s not much else pro stuff out there besides the aforementioned and Rockpalast, that I know of. I would seriously just pay the $50 and get Clifford Ball from Amazon….it’s the cream of the crop…pretty much all the livephish video releases are hot shit, and Walnut Creek is good, too…you’ve probably already seen all of these
oh yeah and phish taped a lot of stuff from 94 on…so expect more releases, along with any outdoor shows that had screens for better viewing…I still don’t know why they didn’t release Prague video along with the LivePhish audio, you can catch that on youtube, and it is obviously from the soundboard a la other LivePhish releases
Whoops. I didn’t mean “Coventry”, totally meant Clifford. Fuckin’ delirious here. I haven’t seen much of Walnut Creek except a RIPPING Taste. Page was absolutely raging it. And then the thunder. I definitely wanna check out Clifford Ball, but I can’t afford it right now since I just bought 3 tickets ;).
8th in line at Blockbuster.
a few people in front of me got lawns.
i got 2 pavilion on the phone – 3 minutes after the tix inside stopped.
go figure.
it’s official. i’m seeing phish again. 🙂
Good for you!
Nice to see Erik Adair’s lot poster getting some webspace.
