I was there last night and it was sick sick sick. Trey is one ball of energy and he clearly loves the music. So much energy.

  8. Billy Breathes Says:

The Jiboo was also super fatty.

And the acoustic solo Trey is untouchable. Such a special experience. It’s as if everyone there (who is tuned in and not yapping) is sharing in a very magical moment. Pure beauty.

But that SAND. Deep and treacherous all the way down to the bottom of the sea, prowling around, and then back up to the surface with stellar peaking. Check it.

  9. Angryjoggerz Says:

Agreed on Sand, that was on some shit.

  10. Nick Says:

Show last night was unreal. Rarely see Trey that happy. Horns sounded so so hot. BTW Mr. Miner your date is wrong on the tentative link. Yesterday was the 19th

Last night was my first solo Trey so since I caught four of the GRAB sets. Those shows killed my interest in seeing Trey solo for quite some time. I don’t know if it was trey’s playing at the time or the new marital but something wasn’t clicking. After last night I have to say it was Trey, reason being that some of those songs the killed my buzz were great last night (I’m looking at you Dragonfly/Tuesday). There was a period of time following those Grab shows that use of the words boots or dragonfly would lead to me having a panic attack.

Last night was a whole different ball game. The groove of TAB is back. Tony and Russ are an incredible rhythm section and are different enough from Mike and Fish to give this band its own distinct sound. Ray and Trey had great interplay throughout the evening and I don’t know if its just my memory going but Ray seemed to have a much funkier tone then I remembered (esp. on the clav).

I’ve already said plenty of the horns but I was really left wanting more. There were a few numbers towards the end ( I believe Plsama and Mr.C) that featured more improvisation between trey and horns then most of the night. It could be my memory but it seemed that Trey was doing much more leading during those numbers then the whole night where more of the playing was as a collective. It reminded me of the 02 tours where trey would direct the band throughout the night, letting them know exactly what he wanted.

I haven’t listened back yet but to these ears Trey was playing better then any show I saw over the summer. As I stated earlier he was making all the changes and laying down great solos throughout the night. I went in uneasy, I left knowing Trey is back.

If anyone wants to pull the torrent and convert it to 320mp3s and up the torrent to the site, that’d be cool….I’ll link the FLACS for now.
