Type II Trivia Test
Today we have a game show on Phish Thoughts – the place where the fun never ends. Phish’s jamming has often been described in layman’s terms as ‘type I’ ( contained jamming that adheres to song structures and chord progressions) and ‘type II’ (open jamming that leaves any semblance of the song it came from). Today’s game centers on Phish’s open jamming. Below are ten audio clips – each a few minutes long, and here is the task. You can gain 3 points per audio clip – 1 for identifying the year, 1 for identifying the song, and 1 for identifying the date – for a total of 30 possible points. The winner will win their choice of a “TAB and the Tabernacle” CD or Mike Gordon’s “Moss,” to be delivered in the near future. Please email your entries with ten numbered lines, one for each guess. All entries must be emailed to mrminer@phishthoughts.com by 7 pm pacific on Friday (tomorrow) night. If multiple entries nail a perfect score, the earlier entry will take the prize. Without further ado, here are the audio clips. Good Luck!

“Fall tour will bring back the βdude, what song is this?β jam. Last time I was in that vortex was 46 days from IT.”
A welcome phenomenon, indeed!
i thought i *knew phish. i really do need to go back school…
A 40 minute rambling jam will do that to most folks.
Yeah Selector is moves like lava all over the place in that dub style.
I got a living room full of kids Wiiing to the dub and grooving to the tunes.
Gonna go get some lunar hits under the harvest moon.
if anyone wants to feel better about picking out the jams… check out my phish jam mash up.

Hard to believe the remaining 2010 Phish tix will be let loose before fall tour begins
Indeed, some possible trade and countertrade situations.
Yeah, I’m hoping not to mix December into my Fall tour trading deals -getting my buddies the right Broomfield tickets has been annoying to say the least

Those 10 trivia clips are such a TEASE -I’ve got a blank space where those type IIs should be
Bought an instant download ticket from Stub Hub and now i’m freaking out. does the seller still have the ability to print the ticket too???
they have to make sure they sell out Worcester on a Monday, Tuesday
these msg shows are gonna be the ones I had hoped last year’s would be π
MSG melt down fo shizzle my nizzle
Well that’s pretty frickin’ cool. Assuming I don’t have to pay over market for tickets, I’m gonna be making the MSG run on about $550, which is noooooot too shabby for 5 days in NYC over New Years…
Dope!
Oh, speaking of dope, I guess extracurriculars might push that price up a bit, but still, pretty cheap!
How long do we have to ptbm??
@Gdad
Until Oct. 2
Thx garret
musically though… what type of modulation is it when the band flips from type 1 to type 2? Modal switch? Whole Tones? Hello…Miner.
