grayfolded
John Oswald’s “plunderphonicized” take on darkstar. classic.
Grayfolded is def a classic, essential listening.
don’t sleep on Phoenix. They handled a very good Nashville team pretty easily and it’s not beyond belief that it’s fixed so the people of Glendale can feel better about being fleeced.

Also included in that irony: Bryz was Phoenix’s goalie and now that he’s gone they’re going to the conference finals….
to be completely honest, i did not see 4 more years of 3.0 coming!
4.0?
Damn. Never heard the Hood from 12.13.97? Well, you should.
Pretty sick type 2 version clocking in at 18 minutes. Kp remastered this show. Above average 1st set Vultures. Ghost, Mike’s> Llama in set II.
Silly Willy, Alf, Robear and others. 3 of you came to mind when watching this video.
This teacher is inspiring kids to think. Using Sun Tzu in his classroom? In the age of standards based curriculum; Inconceivable!

though i guess that could be a completely bogus rumor
or maybe after this year they’ll just make the holiday run the only shows of the year
the annual prance we could call it
thanks, halcy, i’ll check it out – hope things are going well in the mts!
A hologramed Dick Clark can introduce them each NYE from the Garden stage.. #EPIC

Is 5/8/77 overrated? Probably, but that show does fuckin smoke. It’d been a while- glad I took the trip down memory lane. Buffalo tomorrow.
looking back today and seeing that grades were a topic. not gonna lie, i still stress out waaaay too much about grades. it literally doesn’t even matter in med school unless you’re trying to become a pediatric neurosurgeon or something super specialized, but it’s hard for me to totally disregard them, as we had to focus on them like nut jobs to get to this point. it’s really frustrating to me, honestly, that i still care, but i do. it’s really hard for me not too, and it’s causing me way too much consternation as of late, what with finals round the corner.

@dayman
kind of surprised to hear that grades don’t matter for the most part in med school. why’s that? doesn’t it effect the residencies youll be trying for? just wondering
@xpun – i should have prefaced my statement to mean pre-clinical grades, as I am an M1 right now. residencies are much more interested in board scores and performance on rotations during your third and fourth year than preclinical grades. so if you’re trying to match into internal medicine, it’s in your best interest to do well in that rotation/rotate at a hospital you are trying to get a residency at.
however, if you’re trying for a surgical subspecialty, opthalmology, dermatology, or otolaryngology, you better have phenomenal grades from the get go, as these are hyper competitive fields (i’m not particularly intrigued by these fields, so my decent to good, but not good enough grades aren’t very important).
now obviously, the better you do in class, it might be more likely that you’ll do well on the boards, but sometimes stressing out about getting a B vs B+ is just straight up counterproductive. actually, for the most part, most med schools are pass/fail, for this very reason, mine just happens to have grades.
sorry for the long winded answer to a simple question 😉

Blam-o!
Shoulda just gone to a school like Reed, dayman. Don’t tell you your grades unless you ask…
you son of a gun garret. done with fucking finals, damn do i envy that. free indeed. enjoy it, i’ll be right there with you a week from thursday…… and it can’t come soon enough.
btw the superball dwd is fucking smoking hot. i haven’t listened to this in forever.
“that big Ghost in BGCA is going to sound so much better when you’ve locked down a tight GPA”
Well Silly, that was definitely good motivation, but reading it also made it hard to focus on the studying I was supposed to be doing… Haha. It was so much more enjoyable picturing myself swimming around that thick, gooey sound in the BGCA…
Soon enough, dayman, soon enough! It was a slog the last couple weeks for sure… Since last Monday I wrote about 41 pages for four different classes, visited two potential rental houses, took a two hour bus trip to turn in a rental application (accepted today, woot!), studied for two finals, and spent five hours today (out of a possible seven) actually taking those two finals…
But now I’m done, and my entire summer fell into place in the last couple weeks:
Phish plans? Check. Summer internship? Check. Summer job too? Check. Ride home from Oregon? Check. House for next year? Check. Finish finals? Check.
Feels good, for sure. Hopefully this is more of a “damn, that motivated me, thanks Garret!” post and less of a “damn, thanks for rubbing it in that you’re done, jerkface” post… Haha
Tokyo Tweezer.
Yeah. I can get behind that…
yes and yes to both of the above, motivation and tokyo tweez ftmfw. night dude.
Vegas- I think the reason everybody talks so much about that show is that it was readily available in low gen great sounding boards. Plus the performance is super solid of course. Betty board maybe? People always talked about it as “best show ever”. At the time best sounding show ever was more to the point, probably.
