Trey Goes to Toronto

Last Friday, Trey traveled north of the border for the first time since his ’06 arrest, kicking off his brief winter TAB tour at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall. Phish Thoughts had photographer Jesse Herzog on the scene to capture Trey’s first international performance since his 2008 comeback, and today I share with you some of his shots from the night up north.

This stream sounds nothing like the band that gave the Cheese>Heavy Things>Honey Boo>questionable cover encore last night.

Not familiar with this groove – played a lot it seems though.

Wow. Hot TAB show. Probably couldn’t have asked for a better second set! Trey was chatty and the music was hot. Whole band laid it on the table tonight. I take back 96.4% of my negative TAB comments. Good one tonight at the Cap.

For you NYC folks, does Terminal 5 deserve the bad wrap that it gets for always being awfully oversold with terrible views?

T5’s biggest problem is its physical layout, as technically there’s a lot of space. Due to the layout, however, a lot of said space doesn’t have any kind of stage view. The place was never built for live performance, although it was previously a dance club.

Basically T5’s total capacity is like adding up not only the orchestra & balcony sections, but also including the exterior hallways and lounges as part of total capacity. Not unsafe per se, just douchey for the many fans who’ll have to watch on video screens

@luther, all GA except for a small balcony, about 1500 capacity. seeing animal collective there in march.

  13. MmmHmm Says:

@Sumo you’d think Black Crowes would pick a better place to play in the city…

  14. MmmHmm Says:

Or play the Cap on a Fri/Sat and not Tues/Weds

  15. sumodie Says:

Artists probably love T5 as from their perspective as it’s a cozy and very non standard room

Not to mention booking agents tend to favor/control groups of venues due to contracts, ownership, etc

Obviously the right booking agent has the right kind of deal with T5

  16. sumodie Says:

Crowes at the Cap would be sweeet! Of course both midweek shows are already sold out

  17. ToddV Says:

So does TAB go to Canada = Phish can now go to Europe? Would be nice for a couple of my euro firends.
