Turkey Tunes: Pt. I

Turkey Day is Coming...

Phish and Thanksgiving have long held a connection in the minds of many fans. Landing on Fall Tour so many times, everyone has at least one funny story about a Phishy Thanksgiving spent on the road. But without a fall tour this year, let’s take the opportunity to look back at the intersection of fall tours past and Turkey Day. This playlist is plucked entirely of shows played on the Wednesday, immediately preceding the festival of family, food and football.

11.25.1992 Keswick Theatrek Glenside, PA

11.23.1994 Fox Theatre, St, Louis, MO

11.26.1997 Civic Center, Hartford, CT

11.25.1998 “The Knick,” Albany, NY

Fee -> Maze” 11.25.92 I, Glenside, PA

A classic song combo from the Keswick Theatre’s first set in ’92

Zero -> 2001 -> Cities -> Ya Mar” 11.26.97 II, Hartford, CT

One of my favorite jam sequenced of Fall ’97. The “Zero” jam,  itself, is a Hendrix-infused dreamscape.

Tweezer > Lifeboy” 11.23.94 II, St. Louis, MO

A jam of legend from The Fox in ’94.

Run Like An Antelope11.25.92 II

The first renaissance of “Antelopes” came in 1992.

You Enjoy Myself” 11.25.98 II, Albany, NY

This funked-out “YEM” was the following version played in The Knick after 12.9.95’s monstrous rendition.

Harry Hood” 11.25.92 II

A thrilling, old-school ride on the night before Thanksgiving.

Interesting, MiA. Either way on this one, people are fucked up.

Sorry I have been such a ray of sunshine on here today… just that kind of day. Going to go in to work tomorrow even though we dont need to just to be away, me thinks. Pretty sure my wife is about to accidentally stab me to death too.

Checking out some other rooms on the TT, pretty cool. In an 80’s new wave one right now, lots of tunes I have never heard.

Sometimes I find reading the comment sections more interesting than reading the actual story.

I get sucked into article comments way too often. Sometimes it’s interesting to follow along and see how long it degenerates. Sometimes, not so much. See any article at sacbee.com for examples.

  10. angryjoggerz Says:

Me too, MiA… and then it just gets to a point where I have to take a week or so off from the news. I think I have arrived at that point.

Mmm, pumpkin cheesecake and pinot noir.

  11. voopa Says:

    how long *until* it degenerates.

    Penalty shot.

Whatever Halleys is on PDA is my fave. So sick. I was never much of a Halleys guy.

Thanks for the kind words el dude. I was clean and sober for 14 years solid. In Oct I’ve been off the wagon for 4 years. It’s been a totally different experience than ages 11-23, my first go round. These days, I dig a good buzz, but it’s not an all consuming focus. When I was young it was…no question. I did time at wharf rats and the fellowship table (I danced at the portal near it at island tour providence and was damn glad…so much darkness In the scene those days) but I wasn’t like gung-ho about it…it was just good to know its there. I have 3 friends still clean and sober that have brushed shoulders with the BB, most recently at UIC, but they keep to themselves once inside.

    Many chapters in ones life.

    From Tela’s link

1.0 out of 5 stars Product Warnng: This procuct multiplies protesters
I casually used this product to try to disperse a small band of non-violent campers who had locked their arms together. Although initially it seemed to be effective, it took two applications! The worst part is that the next day they multiplied exponentially! Now what?

One positive outcome, I did receive a paid vacation for my efforts.

Wife just gave me an acupuncture treatment, nice lady. If I was smart I would get it on the reg, but i’m a bitchy baby and I resist. Funny how sometimes the thing that can heal you is right in front of you and you still resist.

  18. Leo Weaver Says:

@sumo…check the 97 WS Gin. It’s got some shred. Be sure to give yourself 30 minutes uninterruped. Then tack on another 15 or so for the DWD>Low Rider>DWD.

::cue the “there goes Leo with that damn WS show and it’s gin again”:: 😉

  22. Gavinsdad Says:

Not sure the BB can collectively smoke as many joints at MSG as it did at UIC but it’ll damn sure try.

  23. voopa Says:

Still bitter after spousal acupuncture…AJ, I admire you.

  24. angryjoggerz Says:

    What can I say, I’m a prick.
